HIGHLIGHTS FROM PRESENTATION

Newsletters have long been the workhorse as a current awareness tool. The information professional has many to choose from. As well there is the weblog, the latest in personal publishing. New content at websites and weblogs can be stripped off in headline form as an RSS file and read through a newsreader. For those who need to scan for updates in subject areas continuously the newreader can be a significant productivity aid. The other tool, for where RSS is not suitable, is the web page monitor - available as a web service and as software. With these one can read news sites, set up searches, watch competitors, tap into online jounrals.

E-Newsletters
Newsletter is the easiest form of CA. There are thousands to choose from.

Weblogs
Enormously popular. There are many good weblogs produced by librarians.

RSS NewsReaders aggregate RSS news feeds and make them readable. Continuous update.
