HIGHLIGHTS FROM PRESENTATION
Newsletters have long been the workhorse as a current awareness tool. Most
online journals, health portals, and other health news sites will offer email
alerts for new content. As well there is the weblog, the latest in personal
publishing, that mainly addresses "niche" interests. New content at
websites and weblogs can be stripped off in headline form as an RSS file and
read through a newsreader. For those who need to scan continuously for news and
updates in subject areas the newreader can be a significant productivity aid.
The other tool is the web page monitor - available as a web service and as
software. With the web page monitor one can read news sites, set up saved
searches, watch company websites, and tap into online journals. There are
hundreds of news sources for news related to health and medicine. News search
engines like Google and Altavista also have health sections.
E-Newsletters
Newsletter is the easiest form of CA. There are thousands to choose from.
Weblogs
Enormously popular but there aren't many health/medical ones.
RSS NewsReaders aggregate RSS news feeds and make them readable.
Continuous update.

Web Page Monitors
Set up agents to watch a Web page or check for new results on a search. Some
agents are desktop software. Most have web pages and email alerts and will
either extract the changes or highlight them.
